Day 30 휴 식

I'm not exactly sure why Captain Sherrin chose not to swim today for Day 30 of The Jeju Big Swim: Sunday, August 29, 2010. Maybe it was health reasons.

Today offered the perfect swimming conditions. How do I know? I rode out to Chagwido today and checked on the kayak and the coastline from Chagwido to Hyeopjae Beach. The sea was flat as a swimming pool and there were hundreds of boats as far as the eye could see in still waters.

We have a meeting Wednesday night.

Hopefully, we (as a team) can agree to finish The Jeju Big Swim - no matter how this happens - say the Sunday before Chuseok, rather than Sollal.

After Chuseok, our team will not fully be on Jeju, I think the media is going to start losing interest the longer we drag this out (thus losing our message), and paper-thin patience tends to disintegrate rather than strengthen.

On a side note, thanks to fresh-off-the-plane-from-Ireland Father Jerry Cotter, who invited team members Sherrin, Sung-mi, Young-lim and myself into the Colombian House in Yongduam after we witnessed the outdoor river concert close by late Saturday night. The beer or two were refreshing especially after two of us had consumed a few bowls of makgeolli prior. As always, CSI photographer Sung-mi was on the prowl.
